Scientific thought places so much emphasis on what we experience as part of our physical realities.
To be specific, the scientific spotlight is on our flawed sensory system. Making sense of the how and what, trying to grasp at how our minds take in and categorizes as information. I say flawed, because we’ve all experienced the glitches.
The grab for the bundle of thread on the floor, that ended up really being a spider. Or hearing the fitness instructor saying, "5 more!," but really their saying 15 - you get the drift.
Yet if it’s observable and it’s repeatable.. it becomes a tangible truth that we can more or less rely on.
At least for the time being. The ever praised corroborated truth.
All to say, the intrinsic value our societies place on the scientific method has other compounding effects on our view on metaphysics and meta phenomena as well.
It causes to discount the experiences not seen, but felt.
Despite each of us knowing that our experience navigating our inner world is just as complex as our experiences in this collective reality. Neural synapses notwithstanding, the pursuit of mastering our inner world is worthy of our attention.
We justify the box that our fear, worry, and anxiety place us in. The way that we allow these unrealized concerns to dictate so much of what we do… and more importantly what we don’t. We battle ourselves, and sometimes to no avail, if we allow these emotions and states of being to bear too much influence on our decision-making.
What has being afraid kept you from doing?
How many times have you pushed through the apprehension, and discovered that it in fact, it was not that bad.
Or even in those cases where it is that bad.
Those moments where we are confronted with situations and circumstances that are in fact, worse than what we could have every imagined.
Yet we’re still standing,
Still pushing towards the life we dare to live out loud, irrespective of the fears that would have us linger in the shadows.
If 2024 offered any lesson, it is to do what scares you, or taken a step further - to do, even if you’re scared to.
There is a time and place for everything under the sun. Including cultivating the courage to push past the mental blocks that keep you playing small. Life is one major experiment, after all. Winning or losing, those concepts are subject to your definition of them. We all have the capacity to lose, or to win, on our own terms. We can set the standard, we can chart our path.
There are so many thoughts that we can engage in, that root us to states of being that enable us to grow, or that disempower us, and we regress. Even if our focus is to stay the same… it’s rare that we are not balancing between the fluctuations of growth and regression.Â
The world around you is changing, so even the simple act of staying the same in an ever changing world is its own indicator of regression.
So be.
Beyond the fear, worry, and anxiety - give yourself permission to be the version of yourself that you need to dare to be.
Because that version is going to require you to be brave.
To face your fears and make decisions soundly, you’ll need to give yourself the tools to enable your pursuit of whatever success looks like for you.
And you’ll get there.
If there is one thing life has taught me, it is that living your best life is often on the other side of fear,
Do what scares you, and be who want to be, too.
