2024: Developing Resilience through Intentional Daily Choices

2024 surprised me.

If nothing else, this year served as proof that there is life beyond calamity.

Allow my year to be a testament if you are going through a hard time. Recognize how important it is to simply believe that you can get through your season of difficulty.

Any circumstance that may seem never-ending, does eventually subside.

Out with the tide.

Leaving you with the opportunity to write a new chapter.

Changed. But for the better.

We forget that there is no triumph without struggle and that victory is always within reach… so long as we choose to try. We discount the significance of a thousand baby steps in the right direction, overly concerned about a timeline that was never ours to control.

We hardly consider our own life as a miracle unless we have had a brush with death.

Dance a few numbers with the grim reaper.

Coming to face with our own mortality.

To such an extent that even the privilege of welcoming a New Year leaves you overwhelmed and in awe.

I am grateful.

These last few years, I had thought it to be unconceivable to plan too far ahead.

Yet, I had the audacity to hope for brighter days.

I made the choice, through thousands of baby steps, to believe for better.

And better came around.

One significant point to reflect on is that happy endings (or outcomes), are not devoid of grief or loss. Brighter days ahead rarely, if ever, reflect any version of the past that involves a version of ourselves that we often no longer identify with. Happy days (and outcomes) are rooted in the possibility present in our current reality. They are a byproduct of the best you can extract from each day.

The benefit of learning to make the best with what you’ve got is that you often wind up with better than what you thought.

Outlook, attitude, and mindset are everything.

You give yourself the ability to overcome the seemingly insurmountable, when you place your focus, attention, and concentration on what best serves you.

And not in a selfish way, but in a mindful and intentional way.

What serves your growth, evolution, and development.

2024 was a mirror that reflected potential, capability, and strength I did not know I had in me.

Bringing out compassion, patience, and support from the unlikeliest people around me… and regardless of the struggle, we came together.

I close this year off, feeling deeply and undeniable grateful.

2024 was a teacher, and I was her most attentive student.
